A scare...

Last night we were at the Hamiltons, they have a lovely pool out back, and I am sure you all know where this is going. Leland went out back with Poppy who was putting the car seat in the car, Dad Hamilton had his eye on Leland the whole time and he said Leland was very carefully walking around the pool when he all the sudden he decided to jump in. Thats right my friends my child didn't fall into the pool he dove in head first. Pebbles (their dog) started barking which is what Mom Hamilton and I heard, we didn't hear a splash or anything so we just continued talking in the kitchen, when Dad Hamilton came in wet, with Leland stripped down to his diaper, and crying. Dad Hamilton said Leland didn't want to get out. Now I know Leland was all right because there was someone right there to help him, but this freaks me out a bit. Ok a lot.... I am going to have to have hawk eyes this summer, so my littlest water baby stays safe.

How scary! I've had to jump in after children that weren't my own as well as my own. After many nightmares of pulling my younger two out of water lifeless when they were younger, I watched them beyond hawk-like. I hated visiting homes with pools. My MIL doesn't have door alarms and if a child is missing I check the pool first.

Okay, didn't mean to get on my soap box. I am soooooooo glad he's okay! Time to sign him up for those toddler swim lessons. My friend's 18 month old can flip her self over and float when she falls or is thrown in a pool now. It's amazing to watch!

Oh holy crap!! I'm glad he's ok, but I'm with you--I would've been seriously FREAKED out. :S

This is seriously one of my worst nightmares. When I was pregnant with Hudson a little girl in our ward drowned in her family pool, it was very sad. But what is cool is that her mom and dad have really been able to get information out about pool safety! her website is www.pariswhite.com. I am hyper-paranoid about Hudson's safety... I'm a bit of a freak. :) Glad little guy is ok!!

two words for you... life jacket. Keep it on him at ALL times while visiting pools. Then at least he'll float. =)

ok maybe not that dramatic, but I would consider it! They also have door alarms, $10 each at Orchard Supply as I'm sure at other hardware stores, might want to invest in those, at least Papa might after his rescue.

Um, ya. That would've freaked me out too! So glad your Father in Law was there to take action! Water always freaks me out, especially pools in the backyard. Like Jules said, her MIL doesn't have door alarms (no idea why not, but anyways) and we were there visiting 2 years ago. Anyways, we were all out front getting ready to leave and I ran back inside the house to use the restroom thinking my hubby had his eye on Kya. The next thing I know is I hear a door open outside my bathroom door. I thought this odd as I was supposedly the only one in the house. I immediately had an awful feeling and ran out the bathroom. Good thing I did as Kya had unlocked the door leading out to the pool and was about 2 steps away from going in. AHHH! SO scary. I did mention to Jules MIL about alarms as she has grandkids, etc. I even told her about your parents and FRONT DOOR. SIDE DOOR, etc! ALright, done babbling. Glad he's safe and sound!
