Note to self....

Do not drift into a peaceful nap while watching a movie with your almost 2 year old son...

You will wake up with this....

and my friends that is highlighter and permanent marker... and my LEG... yeah you would think I would learn......

We have been having sleep overs and the latest one was with Zeke... We had just finished a bag of popcorn and he was asking me for more he said "al if you pop another bag of popcorn I will most likely be eating it." Cracked me up... Instead of another bag of popcorn I poured some peanut M&M's into his bowl but way too many came out so I told him we would share and he was disappointed to say the least, as the bowl got emptier and emptier, he took two huge handfuls out, and told me I could pick a few more... He is a cute kid!
This is Leland watching a movie with Zeke before his nap time, Zeke is on the couch but Leland opted to be closer to the TV. The suitcase in the back ground is one my mom gave us, and Leland likes to pull/push it around... I always find treasures in it:D

We are doing pretty dang good. Brian is still working hard at work, and waiting to hear back on a few positions he put in for at work, we wouldn't mind your prayers on that one! Work has been super stressful for him lately, but he plugs away and tries to stay positive. He starts back to school here in a bit, with the light at the end of the tunnel, he will graduate in December of 2010. I couldn't be more excited because that means we will get to start looking for a house, which means we will probably look in Amy's neighborhood and around the Hamiltons neighborhood... It will be super nice to move a little closer to family! I am doing the same old same old, so nothing new to report here! Wow this turned into an update blog, but I don't do those often so there ya have it!

PS I am looking to start obtaining good children's chapter books... I have tried picking up some of the ones that have won awards, and some of them really aren't books I would want to read out loud to Leland... Yes I realize he won't sit through them yet, but I want to start a collection before that time happens! I expect to hear from Alison and Amy I am sure you two have tons to recommend:D

Oh dear, ummmmm....children's books...where to start? Okay, here are my faves:
The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians series) by Rick Riordan
Peter and the Starcatchers (also a series) by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson
anything by Roald Dahl (James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, etc) *my absolute favorite children's author*
and of course Harry Potter and Chronicles of Narnia
I could keep you here all day long, but those are a few of my faves. :)

I need to see if I can find my children's Lit stuff because our Prof had a huge list of chapter books. Got to love Lee's artistic ability, maybe we can find one of those huge drawing pads for him to work on. Can't wait for tonight, much love!

In no particular order:

Series of Unfortunate Events

Holes

The Wizard of Oz

The Captain Underpants series

The Westing Game

Maniac Magee

Number the Stars

Bud, Not Buddy OR The Watsons Go to Birmingham

and when he's about 12 or older --The Giver (my favorite)

I like Rhia's choices as well. And I have to agree, there are just too many to list. :S

A really good place to start would be printing off a list of the Newberry Award winners and starting from there. So many wonderful ones.
